Prosper portal accessibility statement
This website is run by Prosper. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. The design and creation of our digital resources have been guided by the following accessibility standards:
Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 AA.
How does the Prosper Portal meet accessibility standards?
- Navigate most of the website by mouse or by keyboard alone
- Navigate most of the website using speech recognition software
- Change font-sizes without loss of structure
- Listen to most of the website using a screen reader
- Zoom in up to 200% without loss of detail
- Pause any animations
We’ve tried to make the website text as straight forward as possible to understand. The site uses a consistent and predictable design on all pages.
All meaningful images on the site have an alternative text (alt text) description. Some images used for links or for other useful information don’t have alt text (WCAG1.1.1 Non-text Content).
Text and images of text has a contrast ratio of at least 4.5:1, except for large text, large-scale text and images of large-scale text which have a contrast ratio of at least 3:1.
Video content is closed-captioned and can be played at different speeds. Full written transcripts are provided for each full video and are also downloadable via https://vimeo.com.

How accessible this website is
We know some parts of this website are not fully accessible:
- We have some older PDF documents which are not fully accessible to screen reader software
- A small number of videos are text based (on-screen) and do not yet have a transcript

Technical information about this website's accessibility
Prosper is committed to making its websites accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.
Compliance status
This website is partially compliant with the WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) version 2.2 AA standard, due to the following non-compliances (and/or) the following exemptions.
Non-accessible content
The content is non-accessible for the following reason(s):
Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations
- Some images don't contain alternative text to describe the image which does not meet WCAG version 2.2 AA - 1.1.1 Non-text Content.
- Some of the downloadable documents (pdf) are not screen-reader compatible.
- Small number of videos which do not contain a spoken audio track do not contain a text alternative.
- Some pages show failure to meet correct use of Heading structure (for example missing H1, or correct H1, but then missing H2) to determine information and relationships.
- Some page titles are not descriptive.
- Some links purpose lack context.
- Currently status messages (such as success or failure) do not contain any additional markup to support assistive technologies.
Disproportionate burden
We have determined that there is disproportionate burden to meet all the requirements for the following reasons:
- Making improvements would exceed our annual budget and capacity and would not significantly improve things for disabled users.
What we're doing to improve accessibility
For existing pages we are gradually improving the page structure (H labels), page title description, and ensuring that links have clear context and purpose.
For new pages and resources we are ensuring that structure, descriptive titles and clear links are in place as they are created.
